Logistics company rewards dedication in look to the future

Published May 8, 2013

Hessle-based Neill & Brown Global Logistics has made three board level appointments.

Colin Moody has become managing director, taking over from Peter Brown who will now act as chief executive officer, and Carl Andrew is the new logistics director.

Peter Brown, who has worked in the family business since 1965, said that he would still be very much involved in its day-to-day running. “Our recent growth means that it is essential to create more posts at a strategic level,” he said.

“We now have 104 employees and it is very important that we send out the message that Neill & Brown is a company that rewards people’s hard work and dedication.”

Mr Moody who started his career at Neill & Brown in 1981 as an office junior following a two-year stint as a Hull City player, said that his goal was to continue developing services in order to offer a total logistics package around the globe.

“The business has become very fast moving with new and existing customers exploring many new markets. As managing director, it is my job to ensure that we make the most of these opportunities and keep pace with developments in IT to stay one step ahead of our competitors,” he said.

Mr Moody has been logistics director and a shareholder for some years saying that the latter is a reflection of his belief in the company’s potential.

“Neill & Brown has seen consistent growth and development. The company is also very good to work for as we have a policy of looking after our employees, resulting in an excellent team atmosphere,” he added.

New logistics director Carl Andrew joined as a school leaver in 1990 and says that he is proud to be recognised for his contribution. “Every day is a different challenge and we have to act quickly to meet the demands of our customers. I am looking forward to having input at board level.”

The board also includes finance director Ian Halder who joined three years ago.

Meanwhile, John Brown, director for health, safety and quality has retired after more than 40 years with the company.

Peter Brown, who is also a director of World Trade Centre Hull & Humber, added: “I am extremely confident that the future is in safe hands with Colin and Carl and I look forward to working with them in their new roles.”
