Job title: Girl Friday!
A little bit about yourself…
I am Withernsea born & bred. From the age of 11 years old, I earned my pocket money by working in my father’s butchers shop after school and at weekends, making sausages and beef burgers and scrubbing up. During the summer months, from the age of 14, I also worked in the local amusements arcade. It was great; I earned loads of money!
Once I left school I went to Hull College to do my City & Guilds RSA Diploma in Office Studies, I then completed an YTS at Carmichael’s department store in Hull. After that I spent 2 years living in Wales where I set up a cleaning company called ‘Spotless Cleaning Co’ which saw me awarded with funding from the Prince of Wales; my main customer was settee manufacturer near Bridgend, Cardiff called Christie Tyler.
Most people know I love to party and like a bit of a dance, given that I have such a quiet and shy personality!
Star likes
Hull: I remember the immense excitement when we heard that Hull had won the bid for City of Culture. I always believed we were in with a huge chance and believed in Hull.
Music: Two of my all-time favorite songs are ‘Dancing in the Moonlight’ by Toploader because it’s just such a happy tune, ‘Flying without wings’ by Westlife reminds me of Peter during our early days. I think Ed Sheeran is brilliant (my sister taught him at school!) and I also like Ellie Goulding, Hozier & a bit of Beyoncé, to name but a few. I love music and really like lots of different artists and styles.
Hobby: I had to really think about this and as sad as it may sound …. Cleaning! I also love looking round interesting historical houses and gardens. Of course the most consistent and regular hobby I partake in is sampling a nice vino.
Food: I am a keen cook and love trying new recipes, but really love a risotto.
Film: My favourite film? Pretty Woman, of course!
Sport: I like doing HIT training 3 times a week (I just wish my body reflected this!)
Place: I just love our home; it makes me exceptionally content and very happy. I love where we live and the surrounding areas. It’s really special and pleases me enormously when I go into the garden to cut fresh flowers and arranging them into vases around the home.
And, finally, two questions to finish ….
Describe your ideal weekend
I love Christmas! So my favorite weekend would be when Christmas fell on it; all our children and family would be home for the Christmas meal and spending a fun time together. Maybe even fit in a trip to the theatre, everyone is in such good spirits and just enjoying the time – busy, messy but fun.
What three things would you like with you on a desert island?
I could not think of anything worse than being trapped on a desert island! I’d hate the seclusion; I’d be bored, no matter how warm it was!
