‘We all get on, we work closely and get attached to each other’ says Phil Shepherd
Our Phil’s musings on Neill & Brown and Hessle Road life.
I’ve been a warehouse operative for the last 12 years and like to bring old Hessle Road values to the workplace. I lived there during the demise of the fishing industry and was still there when the bulldozers started the job of knocking down the side streets. Being a good neighbour was a way of life, you shared what you had.
It’s the same in the warehouse where we do the order picking and prep the stores for receiving goods. We all get on, we work closely and get attached to each other. Yes, we take the p, sometimes near the knuckle, but we’re never too mean. We get on and it shows in that we don’t have high staff turnover.
You have to be optimistic and enjoy life!
