European agreements boost trade and staff numbers

Published August 21, 2014

Two strategic agreements by Neill & Brown Global Logistics have seen an increase in the company’s international trade, staff numbers and job vacancies.
Import and export trade to Europe, particularly Germany, has risen after exclusive agreements with northern German logistics provider Nellen & Quack The Green Line and the UK Pallets network for the Hull and East Yorkshire region.

Carl Andrew, logistics director, said: ‘We are currently seeing shipment increases across the board, particularly German pallet-related imports and exports.

‘Since the tie-up with The Green Line, the number of pallet jobs has risen, which has also had a big impact on our UK Pallets distribution.’

Shipments from Germany have increased significantly in comparison to 2013, with monthly rises of 300 to 600 per cent since the start of March.
To help service the extra work, two new staff members from the Hull area have joined the business: Carl Abey, operations assistant imports, and George McCann, operations assistant exports.

Mr Andrew added: ‘Carl and George are experienced in the transport business and have a well developed understanding of logistics and freight movement. They also have a good grasp of the geographical and business needs faced by Neill & Brown dealing with customers in the UK and numerous European countries.’

Mr Abey has joined from a freight forwarding company while Mr McCann formerly worked with a local logistics business.

Neill & Brown’s agreement with The Green Line consolidates UK traffic from the Gronau-based company, bringing it through the Humber and diverting it from other ports including Felixstowe and Dover. In addition, it significantly increases the amount of Germany-bound UK traffic through Hull.

Products being shipped on trailers between the two countries via the daily service are varied and include textiles, chemicals, non-hazardous and general goods.

Under the agreement with UK Pallets, Neill & Brown is the exclusive partner for Hull and East Yorkshire within a network of 80 logistics specialists providing express, timed delivery of palletised consignments throughout the country.

Neill & Brown is also recruiting as a result of the increased work and new agreements, check the website for up to date vacancies.
